Last week I went over to solder a chip for Travis Leonardi’s mother, who had a 65 inch rear projection TV which wasn’t working. Travis figured that the convergence chip (aligns the three guns to produce a sharp picture) had gone out, and he had a choice: pay someone to fix it for 500 bucks, or the “Leonardi and Peebles show” could attempt for 38 bucks (cost of the chip).

Three hours later, we had a working TV, which was fairly surprising to me, as we had to disassemble most of the electronics, resolder the chip, and then reassemble everything. Still, it was pretty interesting, and we won Mrs. Leonardi’s admiration, although something tells me that Travis has had that for many years.

A day or so ago, the call came in – seems like there’s a short, so we’ll give it another try. This time I’ll take a picture or two.
